Cisatracurium besylate (Cat No.: I046411) is a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent used to induce muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation. It works by competitively inhibiting acetylcholine at nicotinic receptors in the neuromuscular junction, preventing muscle contraction. Administered intravenously, it has an intermediate duration of action and undergoes Hofmann elimination, making it independent of liver or kidney function—advantageous in critically ill patients. Common side effects include hypotension and bronchospasm. It is reversed with acetylcholinesterase inhibitors or newer agents like sugammadex.
