Cis-tranexamic acid (Cat No.: R049179) is a stereoisomer of tranexamic acid, a synthetic derivative of the amino acid lysine. It functions as an antifibrinolytic agent by competitively inhibiting the activation of plasminogen to plasmin, thereby preventing fibrin degradation and reducing bleeding. While the trans-isomer is the pharmacologically active and clinically approved form, the cis-isomer is less active and primarily of interest in chemical and stereoisomeric studies. Its structure includes a cyclohexane ring with amino and carboxylic acid groups in a cis configuration.
