CHAPS hydrate(CAT: I040784) is a zwitterionic detergent widely used in biochemistry and molecular biology for the solubilization and stabilization of membrane proteins and protein complexes. Derived from cholic acid, CHAPS combines the properties of both bile salts and sulfobetaines, offering mild yet effective solubilizing action without denaturing proteins. It is especially useful in isoelectric focusing (IEF) and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2D-PAGE) due to its compatibility with enzymatic activity and low UV absorbance. CHAPS hydrate maintains protein function and structure, making it ideal for membrane protein extraction, crystallography, and other applications requiring gentle, non-denaturing conditions.
