Br-DAPI (Cat No.:I044988) is a halogenated derivative of the classic DNA-binding dye DAPI, designed to enhance photophysical properties and enable photodynamic activity. Like DAPI, Br-DAPI binds strongly to A-T rich regions of double-stranded DNA, exhibiting bright blue fluorescence (excitation/emission ~358/461 nm). The bromination enhances intersystem crossing, making it useful in studies involving photosensitization and potential DNA photo-damage mechanisms. Br-DAPI is commonly used in fluorescence microscopy, live and fixed cell imaging, and DNA quantification. It is ideal for applications requiring nuclear staining with added photoreactivity.
