BMK Glycidic Acid (sodium salt)(Cat No.:R066619), or sodium 3-(1-benzyl-2-oxo-1-phenylethyl)oxirane-2-carboxylate, is a chemical intermediate that features a glycidic (epoxide-containing) acid moiety stabilized as a sodium salt. It is structurally related to BMK (benzyl methyl ketone), a compound historically used in the synthesis of certain pharmaceuticals. Due to its epoxide ring and carboxylate group, BMK glycidic acid sodium salt is reactive and useful in organic synthesis, particularly for forming complex molecules. However, it is also a monitored substance, as it can serve as a precursor in the illicit manufacture of controlled substances. Proper regulatory handling is required.
