Bis(cyclopentadienyl)ruthenium (Cat No.: M048039), often abbreviated as Ru(Cp)₂, is a sandwich compound in which a ruthenium(II) metal center is coordinated between two cyclopentadienyl (Cp) rings in an η⁵-binding mode. It is structurally analogous to ferrocene and belongs to the class of metallocenes. Ru(Cp)₂ is used in organometallic chemistry, homogeneous catalysis, and the synthesis of ruthenium-based complexes. Its stable, yet reactive framework makes it valuable in developing redox-active materials, electronic devices, and exploring transition metal bonding and reactivity in advanced chemical research.
