Bis(2-chloroethyl) ether(CAT: R044909), also known as 1,1′-Oxybis[2-chloroethane], is a chlorinated organic compound consisting of two 2-chloroethyl groups connected by an ether oxygen. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with limited solubility in water but good solubility in organic solvents. This compound is primarily used as an intermediate in the synthesis of chemical agents, resins, and pharmaceuticals. Due to the presence of reactive chloro groups, it readily undergoes nucleophilic substitution, making it useful for alkylation reactions.
