Benzylidenebis(tricyclohexylphosphine)dichlororuthenium(Cat No.:L013833), commonly known as Grubbs Catalyst First Generation, is a well-known organoruthenium compound used primarily in olefin metathesis reactions. With the formula RuCl₂(PCy₃)₂(=CHPh), it features a ruthenium center bound to a benzylidene group, two tricyclohexylphosphine ligands, and two chloride ions. This catalyst is air-stable, soluble in organic solvents, and enables efficient carbon–carbon double bond rearrangement in ring-closing, cross, and ring-opening metathesis. Its high functional group tolerance and operational simplicity have made it a cornerstone in organic synthesis, materials science, and polymer chemistry. Store under inert atmosphere for stability.
