Benazepril Hydrochloride(CAT: A000228) is a potent angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor widely used in the management of hypertension, congestive heart failure, and kidney protection, especially in diabetic patients. It acts by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor, thereby promoting vasodilation and lowering blood pressure. As a prodrug, it is converted in the liver to its active form, benazeprilat. Benazepril hydrochloride is typically supplied as a white to off-white crystalline powder and is sparingly soluble in water. It is also used in veterinary medicine, particularly in dogs and cats, for treating chronic heart and kidney conditions.
