Basic Violet 14(CAT: R071093), also known as Crystal Violet or Gentian Violet, is a synthetic triarylmethane dye with a deep violet color, commonly used as a biological stain, textile colorant, and antimicrobial agent. It appears as a dark green crystalline powder that yields an intense purple solution in water or alcohol.
