Atenolol(Cat No.:I003014)is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker with the molecular formula C14H22N2O3, commonly used to treat hypertension, angina pectoris, and certain cardiac arrhythmias. By blocking beta-1 receptors in the heart, atenolol reduces heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure, thereby decreasing myocardial oxygen demand. It is administered orally or intravenously, typically once daily due to its long half-life. Atenolol is also used for secondary prevention after myocardial infarction. Common side effects include fatigue, bradycardia, cold extremities, and dizziness. It is generally well-tolerated and does not significantly cross the blood-brain barrier.
