Apamin (Cat No.: I013418) is a small neurotoxic peptide found in bee venom, consisting of 18 amino acids. It selectively blocks small-conductance calcium-activated potassium (SK) channels in the central nervous system, affecting neuronal excitability and synaptic transmission. Due to this specificity, apamin is widely used in neurophysiological research to study the role of SK channels in processes like learning, memory, and motor control. While toxic in high doses, it holds potential in neurological research and drug development targeting SK channel-related disorders.
