Ammonium Cerium(IV) Nitrate (Cat No.:R042909) is an orange-red, water-soluble inorganic compound with the formula (NH₄)₂Ce(NO₃)₆. It is widely used as a powerful one-electron oxidizing agent in organic and inorganic synthesis. CAN facilitates oxidative transformations such as deprotection of alcohols, cleavage of carbon-carbon bonds, and aromatic substitutions. In analytical chemistry, it is employed in redox titrations and spectroscopic assays. Due to its strong oxidizing properties, CAN must be stored away from flammable materials and handled with protective equipment. It is hygroscopic and should be kept in tightly sealed containers under dry conditions.
