[6,6]-Phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester (PC70BM) is a high-performance fullerene derivative widely employed as an electron acceptor in organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices. Its non-symmetrical C70 cage introduces energetic transitions forbidden in C60, yielding superior absorption in the visible range of the solar spectrum. This enhanced light-harvesting ability translates into higher photocurrents and improved device efficiencies compared to PC60BM.
