Pyrene-4,5,9,10-tetraone is an oxidized pyrene derivative featuring two six-membered cyclic 1,2-diketone units on the bay regions of its biphenyl structure. Widely utilized in the design of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and rechargeable lithium/sodium ion batteries, PTO demonstrates high theoretical capacity, redox potential, and active-site utilization. In combination with carbon nanomaterials such as CNTs or graphene, it enables stable polymer formation, enhanced conductivity, and electrolyte optimization. Poly(pyrene-4,5,9,10-tetraone) composites show remarkable cycling stability and high-rate performance, positioning PTO as a promising material for advanced energy storage research.
