4-Methyl-2-oxopentanoic acid(Cat No.:I019912), also known as α-ketoisocaproic acid (KIC), is a keto acid with the molecular formula C6H10O3. It is an intermediate in the catabolism of the branched-chain amino acid leucine. KIC is formed by the transamination of leucine and can be further metabolized into isovaleryl-CoA or converted into other energy-yielding compounds.
