10-Formyl-5,8-dideazafolic acid (Cat No.:I045201) is a potent inhibitor of glycinamide ribonucleotide transformylase (GARFT), an enzyme in the de novo purine biosynthesis pathway. By blocking GARFT activity, it disrupts purine nucleotide production, leading to impaired DNA and RNA synthesis, particularly in rapidly proliferating cells such as cancer cells. As an antifolate analog, 10-formyl-DDAF has been investigated for its antitumor potential, showing efficacy in preclinical cancer models. It is a valuable research tool for studying folate-dependent metabolic pathways and for developing targeted chemotherapeutic strategies against malignancies reliant on accelerated purine synthesis.
