1-Octadecene (Cat No.: M068288) is a long-chain, unsaturated alpha-olefin with the molecular formula C₁₈H₃₆. This clear, hydrophobic liquid features a terminal double bond, making it highly reactive in polymerization and functionalization reactions. It is widely used as a comonomer in the production of polyethylene, as well as a solvent, lubricant additive, and precursor in the synthesis of surfactants and specialty chemicals. In nanotechnology, 1-octadecene is employed as a high-boiling non-coordinating solvent in the synthesis of nanoparticles and quantum dots.
