1-Hydroxybenzotriazole (Cat No.:M010241) is a heterocyclic compound widely used as a coupling additive in peptide synthesis. It stabilizes active esters and minimizes racemization during amide bond formation by reacting with carbodiimides like DCC or EDC. HOBt forms reactive intermediates that improve the efficiency and selectivity of peptide bond formation. It is a white to off-white crystalline powder, soluble in organic solvents like DMF and DMSO. In addition to peptide chemistry, HOBt is used in organic synthesis for esterification and amidation reactions. It should be handled with care due to potential explosive risks when dry.
