ε-Caprolactam(CAT: R044422) is a seven-membered cyclic amide (lactam) with the molecular formula C₆H₁₁NO, primarily known as the key monomer in the production of Nylon-6, a widely used engineering plastic and fiber. Upon ring-opening polymerization, ε-caprolactam forms polycaprolactam (Nylon-6) with excellent mechanical strength, thermal stability, and chemical resistance, making it ideal for textiles, automotive parts, and industrial components. It is also used in coatings, adhesives, and film applications. Beyond polymer chemistry, ε-caprolactam serves as a synthetic intermediate in pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals.
