Delafloxacin (CAT: I006018), also known as ABT-492, RX-3341, and WQ-3034, is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic previously developed for respiratory and skin infections. It exhibits potent antibacterial activity with a low likelihood of selecting resistant mutants in MRSA. Although in vitro studies have shown the potential for selecting mutants from quinolone-resistant isolates, delafloxacin maintains low MICs and MPCs, and a fitness cost can be observed. Consequently, delafloxacin was being investigated as a potential treatment for drug-resistant MRSA infections.
